Monkey Island

As we took a cable car ride to Monkey Island, I thought we would just be seeing monkeys from the air. But instead we walked around and through the island with monkeys all around us. I love all the mamas and babies.

Isn't this little guy cute!

Some of the monkeys were tamed and trained. They seemed to be having a good time.

You couldn't hold the monkeys, but they did have some beautiful birds that you could pay to hold

Looking through different eyes

They didn't care if you fed the monkeys. These guys are being fed peanuts or sunflower seeds.  You had to be careful though. They were very competitive and would climb up you to be the first one to the food.
I had a packet of kimchi left over  from our airline lunch. Here Karla and I are feeding it to a monkey. A good use for kimchi, we thought.
And here he is flying up into the air to grab it out of my hand! Aaahh!

One man was buying an ice cream bar at the end of our tour and as he was about to take a bite, a monkey on the roof leaned over and snatched a chunk of it!

Fun day!

  1. Wow- monkey-rama! Yikes. Monkeys are cute, but make me nervous somehow.

  2. They're only alarming if they're springing at you! But yeah, when they're watching you, it's unsettling!
