Hong Kong

The main purpose for this trip to Hong Kong was a conference for the BYU Teachers, for instruction and sharing of ideas. The directors of the program spoke to us. Then the 65 participants for this year each had 2-min. to present a good teaching idea. We received a 1-page handout from each person as well. We gleaned lots of good ideas for the up-coming semester.
One of the true highlights, though, was being able to attend the Hong Kong Temple together. Such a privilege to  be there. The woman I went through for was named 'Mona', as was her mother. That was a sweet surprise! We also attended Church there in an adjacent chapel.

Our hotel was in Kowloon and we had to take a ferry to Hong Kong Island which was fun and cheap.

HK was clean and modern and beautiful. This is of the impressive nightly light show:

Beautiful walkway over a busy HK street
.

On a rare free afternoon/evening, a few of us took a ferry to another, smaller island - Cheung Chau
There were no cars on this island, only bicycles and motorcycles and lots of walking. We chose bikes and walking to explore the fishing village:

John, Sandy, & Patty

Things to buy:
Seahorse snacks, anyone?

or duck?

The weather was perfect! Lots of outdoor living - People sitting on couches, visiting or watching TV.

Finally found a bike rental place:

On our ride along a coastal path:

And then, dinner! We all chose something different to share. I wanted to choose pigeon, but I got voted down. I thought this one looked strange!
Taking the ferry home that night:

Walking home we saw this in an art store window - An incredibly intricate carving on the ivory tusk of a - mammoth? That's what they said. Regardless, it was amazing!

The view from our hotel. Beautiful city!
Very full two days!

I missed seeing this spot in Hong Kong, but I still liked it. So impressive!
